Gmail, Blogger & Other Google Services Experience Massive Outage

Google suffered a massive outage last night that affected as many as 10% of its global users leaving them unable to access their personal email accounts (Gmail) and in most cases, other services such as Blogger, Google Plus, Youtube to name a few.

The outage began at 7:42 p.m. West African Time(WAT) on Friday and lasted for about an hour. During that period its users in the U.S., Africa, Europe and around the world were left without access. Even top websites built on Blogger (Google's web service for publishing blogs) such as Lindaikeji, Lazy Writa, The Niger Times, Nigerian Eye, My Military Wedding and many more could not be accessed during the outage.

According to Mashable, the sudden crash of multiple Google services at once caused an an uproar on Twitter, where affected users quickly pointed the finger at Google.

Google said the culprit, was an internal software bug that ultimately caused users' data requests to be ignored, which then caused errors within Gmail and other Google services.

This is the Tech giant's first major outage since April 17, 2012 when up to 35million Gmail users were left without access to their messages for more than an hour.

Google apologized for the outage in a statement, also added that they are in the process of putting systems in place to prevent any similar problems in the future.
