Abubakar Sani Bello Inaugurates 2 Committees To Probe Babangida Aliyu's Tenure

Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello on Friday set up two committees at the council chamber of Government House in Minna to x-ray the state infrastructural contracts and finances between 2007 and May 2015(the tenure of former governor, Muazu Babangida Aliyu).

The chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Engr Mohammed Jibrin Imam and Alh Mohammed Nda will head the Infrastructure committee and Finance committee respectively.

According to Leadership, the governor stated that the infrastructural committee was to look into the infrastructure inherited, the viabilities and the inventory of all the liabilities by connecting with the relevant ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).

The governor explained that the committee is to ascertain the financial assets and liabilities of the state and local governments as at May 29, 2015 by verifying “all revenue accruing to the state and local governments from the federation account allocation committee (FAAC), VAT, NNPC, argumentation exchange rate devaluation, ecological fund, excess crude account, Sure-P, MDGs development partner grants and internally generated revenue (IGR) from 2007 to May 2015.

Meanwhile, Niger state government said that it has recovered six vehicles allegedly taken away without due diligence of the law by former governor Aliyu.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello’s Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Dooba, said yesterday in Minna that the vehicles were recovered from the Former Governor and his wife Hajiya Jummai Babangida Aliyu on Tuesday at the Abuja home of Aliyu.

The Governor’s Spokesperson said, two Range Rover Jeeps, two saloons and a station wagon of Mercedes Benz brand were taken from the Former governor’s house and one Hilux Van from one of the aides.
