Facebook's COO Sheryl Sandberg Becomes a Billionaire

Facebook's chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg, who officially became a billionaire on Tuesday, according to data compiled by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, adding yet another impressive accomplishment to an already impressive list.


The 44-year-old's net worth hit $1.03 billion on Tuesday, according to Mashable, as Facebook stock closed at a new all-time high. Sandberg has gradually sold off more than $300 million worth of Facebook stock since the company went public in May 2012, but she still owns 12.3 million shares in the company.

Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's cofounder and CEO, is worth more than $26 billion.

In June 2012, Sheryl was also elected to the board of directors by the existing board members becoming the first woman to serve on Facebook's board.

Before Facebook, Sandberg was Vice President of Global Online Sales and Operations at Google, and was involved in launching Google's philanthropic arm Google.org.
