FCTA Staffs Protest, Demand Minister’s Sack
Staffs of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), on Monday, staged a protest, calling for the immediate sack of the minister, Senator Bala Mohammed.
The protest was led by Mr Ajao Adejumo, chairman of Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC), FCTA chapter.
According to tribune the minister, later responded through his chief press secretary, Muhammad Sule, who noted that the issues raised by the workers would be addressed.
He disclosed that the administration had a staff strength of over 28,000 personnel and paid about N3.6 billion as staff wages and salaries monthly.
He also assured that the government would soon embark on promotion exercise, based on the vacancies declared and availability of funds.
The protesters accused the minister for allegedly ignoring their career development, not training them to keep them updated with modern trends in their fields.
The staffs who carried placards and blocked the entrance to the office of the minister also alleged that the administration has not trained the workers to keep them updated with modern trends in their fields.
