Angry Nigerian Man United Fan Writes David Moyes [READ]

How are you? I must confess that I was disappointed when Sir Alex Ferguson announced you as his choice to succeed him at Manchester United– a club I and my entire family have followed for over 10 years now.

What makes Manchester United a great club? Success and the hunger for success, the never say die spirit and attitude both from the players and the manager, the passion the manager brings to the pitch with the boys, the aura around the team, the manager and the supporters.

That’s why Manchester United is the most successful club in England and in the world (even if I exaggerate, it’s true). And Manchester United has become a lifestyle, an attitude, a belief.

But we didn’t get there by being 2nd best or content with being among the 10 best clubs in England. You see, Manchester United is not a senior Everton team and as such, your mindset needs to change. You need to adjust to the fact that you are not fighting for an 8th, 9th or 10th place position on the League table but for the 1st place position and only that is good enough for us. I can’t stress that point enough.

We watched you all through the pre-season tour and we were not impressed. Now the league has begun and you are yet to impress anyone, except maybe your followers from Everton FC and probably your family members. But if you are to succeed at Manchester United, you must also listen to the fans. We may not always be right, but one thing you don’t want is the fans chanting ‘#MoyesOut’. And trust me, don’t push us!

There is so much at stake at Manchester United. We have a brand that must be maintained. Don’t destroy it. Don’t go down in history as the man who destroyed all that was achieved by Sir Alex. Your recent activity in the transfer window was absolutely shameful and very annoying. You even cost us an extra Two Million Pounds for Fellaini and I hope that money is deducted from your wages. Don’t give me that crap about Ed Woodward ! You are the coach/manager. You should know what you want and go for it. This must not repeat itself in the January transfer window.

I sympathize with you, though, because Everton never made any big transfers, so it’s a bit awkward having 100million Pounds to spend on bringing in new players, but you need to get it into your head that this is Manchester United, the Champions. We rule!

The draw with Chelsea was not acceptable because we played at home and the loss to Liverpool was shocking. Such results are not acceptable and we will have no more of such results. From now on, we must win all our games or you’ll find out that there is a negative side to being ‘a RED DEVIL’.

Welcome to Old Trafford. Welcome to Manchester United, the most successful club in England and in the world. We are proud of our team and rightly so. I wish you success in the days ahead and I assure you of my unflinching support always. Get your acts together and don’t be too proud to call Sir Alex once in a while to ask for his opinion. He will gladly give you his honest opinion.

Do the right thing and win us trophies. May my next contact with you be a congratulatory message, not a placard.

Sincerely yours,
Paul Utho from Nigeria
A proud Manchester United fan
