Generator Fire Kills Two Brothers in Niger State

Two brothers, Musa, 19, and Abdullahi, 15, sons of Husseini Mohmud, a site engineer with the Niger State Ministry of Works, have been reportedly killed in a fire that broke out while fuelling a generator set at their residence in Bosso.

The Niger Times learnt that the incident happened about five days ago and that the deceased were rushed to the IBB Specialist Hospital, Minna, having sustained high degree burns where they eventually died.

While Musa, an SS 2 student of a private school in Minna, was said to have given up a day after he was rushed to the hospital, his younger brother, a JSS 2 student, died four days after.

Family sources told our correspondent that the generator may not have been switched off before the boys attempted to refuel it, thereby igniting the fire.

Niger state Commissioner for Information, Communication and Integration, Prof. Mohammed Kuta Yahaya, who is an uncle to the deceased, said it was sad that the boys who were full of life and energy died while trying to re-fuel a generator.
