Emir of Minna Celebrates 25 Years on Throne

Arrangements have been concluded for the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Emir of Minna, Alhaji (DR.) Umar Faruk Bahago, on the throne.


A statement from the Minna Emirate Council Central Working Committee said the anniversary celebration was slated for Thursday, November 21-24, 2013.

According to the statement, the first day of the ceremony would feature special prayers and Walimat at the Emir’s Palace, by 8pm, to be chaired by Alhaji Usman Nagogo, Ciroman Minna, while the distinguished guest of honor would be former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, the Madakin Minna.

On the second day, there would be special Juma’at prayers in all the Mosques in the emirate by 2pm, and a special lecture presentation titled, “The Revolution of Traditional Institutions in Minna Emirate,” by Dr. Isah Baba of the Federal Civil Service Commission, Abuja, at the Emir’s Palace, after which there would be gala/cultural dances, to be chaired by the former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, with the Chief Servant, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, as the special guest of honor.

The statement added that a grand durbar would feature at the Minna Polo Ground on the third day, with President Goodluck Jonathan, as the special guest of honor, and former presidents Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar as the distinguished guests of honor.

The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Mohammad Sa’ad Abubakar would be the Royal Father of the day while Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu would be the Chief Host.

The ceremony would be rounded up on Sunday with special prayers and thanksgiving in all the Churches in the emirate.
