Gov. Sani Bello Orders SSG to Investigate Illegal Deduction of Workers’ Salaries
The Governor of Niger State, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has directed the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Shehu Danyaya, to constitute a panel of inquiry to investigate illegal deductions of workers’ June salaries.
Bello gave the directive when he inaugurated the 13th Niger national trade fair tagged; `Niger State is an Investment Haven’’, in Minna on Wednesday.
“It has come to my notice that N10, 000, and above depending on your cadre was deducted from July 2015 salaries of workers in the state.
“In my own opinion it is an unfortunate situation and it appears like a deliberate fraudulent action.
“I was made to understand that it could be a system failure, I have decided to direct secretary to the state government to set up a panel of inquiry with immediate effect.
“He is to investigate what has happened and come back with the report on my desk not later than Tuesday next week,’’ he said.
“I pray that it is a system mistake but if it is someone’s effort to deprive workers of certain per cent of their salaries, then, whoever is involved will be severely punished,’’ he said.
The governor said that his administration would tackle corruption in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s agenda of zero tolerance for corruption.
“If you want to use your position as a civil servant or politician to fill your pocket and I catch you, you will suffer for it,’’ he warned. (NAN)
