Umar Nasko Congratulates Abubakar Sani Bello
Niger State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Alhaji Umar Nasko has congratulated his All Progressives Congress (APC) counterpart, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello on his victory in the Gubernatorial polls.
According to Leadership Newspaper, Nasko called Bello yesterday ahead of INEC’s official declaration of the state governorship election results.
From the scores announced by INEC, the APC candidate had polled 593,702 votes to lead Alhaji Umar Nasko of PDP who had only 239,772 votes.
The chief returning officer, Prof Abdulganiyu Ambali, announced that APC’s Bello had won in 17 LGAs while PDP’s Nasko had won in only one, Magama, LGA. Results of the remaining four LGAs were being awaited.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) at the weekend swept to victory in the governorship elections conducted across the country.
Governorship election was conducted in 29 states while House of Assembly elections held across the 36 states of the federation.
According to the results released yesterday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), APC won in 18 states while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won in the remaining 10 states.
The states won by the APC, according to INEC, include Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Katsina, Adamawa, Jigawa, Kano, Nasarawa, Sokoto, Kebbi, Yobe, Bauchi, Kaduna, Niger, Borno, Benue, Kwara, and Zamfara states.
The PDP, however, claimed victory in Enugu, Ebonyi, Rivers, Gombe, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Abia, Taraba, Plateau and Delta states.
