281 Fake Corps Members Uncovered in Niger State

The National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator in Niger State, Mr. Steven Ehoda-adi, on Tuesday said, 281 fake corps members were identified at the state orientation camp in Paiko.

The coordinator who confirmed this to reporters shortly after the closing ceremony of the 2014 Batch B orientation exercise said that those affected were sent out of the camp after failing to present their call-up letters.

According to him, all of them had nothing to show as having qualified for admission into the camp, "some of them gave the flimsy excuse of being attacked by armed robbers on their way to the camp, thereby, losing their call up letters" he said.

Others claimed to have misplaced them outrightly, while some only presented photocopies of the letters, which he said is not acceptable.

According to Daily Times, declaring the orientation camp closed, Governor Mua’zu Babangida Aliyu said despite the insecurity in the country occasioned by the activities of the Boko Haram sect, the unity of the country was non-negotiable.

He said though insurgency is threatening the relative peace in some parts of the country, the activities of the Boko Haram insurgents would soon be brought to an end.
