Ex-Governor Adamu Mu’azu Emerges as New PDP Chairman

Former governor of Bauchi State Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu has been chosen to replace Alhaji Bamanga Tukur as the new Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Premium Times has reported.


Mu’azu 58, was picked as a consensus candidate at a meeting between President Goodluck Jonathan and the governors of the party at the Presidential Villa in Abuja which ended at 1:22 am on Monday.

The governors in attendance were Jonah Jang (Plateau), Seidu Dakingari (Kebbi), Gabriel Suswam (Benue), Theodore Orji (Abia), Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe), Martins Elechi (Ebonyi) and Sullivan Chime (Enugu).
Others were Ibrahim Shema (Katsina), Ramalan Yero (Kaduna), Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta) Idris Wada (Kogi), Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Liyel Imoke (Cross River), Garba Umar (Taraba), Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa) and Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Bala Ngilari.

Others are Vice-President Namadi Sambo and the President of the Senate, David Mark, alongside the party’s Deputy National Chairman, Uche Secondus.

According to Premium Times the former governor who was appointed chairman of the Nigerian Pension Commission, PENCOM in November 2013 by President Jonathan is still being investigated for graft by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for allegedly looting N19.8billion belonging to his state while he was governor between 1999 and 2007.

The former governor has consistently denied any wrongdoing but he is yet to be cleared of the allegation.
