Turkish Football Federation To Punish Drogba and Eboue For Mandela Tribute

According to Goal, The Turkish Football Federation is to seek action against the two Ivorians for revealing vests bearing personal messages to the late former South African president Mandela.

The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) announced they are planning to summon Galatasaray striker Didier Drogba and defender Emmanuel Eboue to appear before the Professional Football Discipline Committee for displaying political messages on their t-shirts during a football match without prior permission.

On Friday, after their 2-0 win over Elagizspor, Drogba showed a sleeveless undershirt bearing the words: ‘Thank you Madiba,' drawing an ovation from the crowd.

Former Arsenal defender Eboue also unveiled a t-shirt with the message ‘Rest in Peace Nelson Mandela.’

The TFF are against the display of political messages during matches and have charged players in the past, recently fining players from Fethiyespor for wearing t-shirts reading: 'Great Ataturk' in homage of the founder of modern Turkey.
