Niger State Government Adopts new Strategy to Fight HIV/AIDS Pandemic.
The State Commissioner for Health and Hospital Services, Dr. Ibrahim Babaminin Sule disclosed this while briefing Journalists in Minna, to mark the World AIDS day.
The Commissioner, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Chindo Bisalla listed some of the achievements of the ministry to include the establishment of the Agency for the Control of Aids and provision of 890 counseling and testing sites across the state.
The Commissioner added that 310 prevention of mother-to-child transmission and training of health personnel on HIV/AIDS services delivery were also given priority attention. He revealed that in 2007, a total of 1,052,120 people were counseled and tested on HIV/AIDS.
Dr. Ibrahim Babaminin Sule, therefore, advised the public to visit health centers for regular check-up, testing and counseling.
