Nigerians Are The Most Educated Ethnic Group in The United States

Immigrants from Nigeria have the highest level of education in the United States of America, surpassing whites and Asians, according to census data, which is also confirmed by analysis of the results of 13 years of annual surveys conducted by Rice University.

Despite the fact that Nigerians represent only a small fraction of the U.S. population, as many as 17 percent of all Nigerians living in the country have education at the master’s level, and 4 percent have doctoral degrees, according to the Community-survey, conducted in 2006 by the U.S. Census Bureau . In addition, 37 percent had a bachelor’s degree.

About 19-percent of whites had a bachelor’s degree. Closest to the Nigerians are Asians with 12 percent of master’s degrees and 3 percent of the holders of doctoral degrees.
