Dino Melaye Arrested For Staging Protest Against Minister of Aviation
Former lawmaker and Executive Secretary, Anti-Corruption Network Dino Melaye, was arrested this morning for staging a protest over the purchase of two bulletproof armoured BMW cars at the cost of N255m by ministry of aviation.
According to National Mirror, he was arrested by a team of armed policemen led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, ASP Sunday Odukoya.
Melaye had a press briefing last week Friday given the Minister of Aviation, Princes Stella Oduah 72-hours to resign, failure of which he would mobilize a mass protest against her over the role she played in the armoured cars deal.
However, the protest which began at about 11: am in Abuja, attracted the police when a group of knife- wielding men, allegedly sponsored by the minister invaded the peaceful protest.
In the ensuring drama, the former House of Representatives member was arrested and taken away in a white Hilux van.
