"Why We Are Fighting PDP" – Niger State Governor [Read]
Niger State governor Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu, has stated that the reason why the G-7 governors are fighting the other faction of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Presidency would soon be manifest for all Nigerians to see.
Aliyu, who spoke over the weekend, said the group was fighting for equity, justice and fairness and to enthrone true democracy in the ruling PDP for a balanced political structure.
The governor, who made this comment at the grand reception held in honour of the Niger State Chief Judge, Justice Fati Abubakar at Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre Minna, said, “We are fighting for justice, equity, and fairness the truth will be manifested in due course for all to see.”
Aliyu, who has been one of the arrow heads of the breakaway faction of the ruling party, New PDP, insisted on the need for internal democracy in all the political parties in Nigeria, not only in PDP.
The governor noted that though the party may be divided at the national level, the PDP in Niger State remained one.
“I thank the chairman of Niger State PDP for his ability to keep Niger State PDP intact,” he said.
Meanwhile, the governor stressed the need for the judiciary in the state to be carried along in the affairs of governance in the state and, therefore, sought the assistance of the state assembly to make Niger State Judiciary live up to their responsibility.
The Chief Judge of Niger State Justice Fati Abubakar said there would be no discrimination in the state judiciary under her leadership.
