23-year-old Aspiring Filmmaker from the Philippines Crowned Miss World [Photos]

Megan Young 23-year-old aspiring filmmaker from the Philippines has been crowned the new Miss World.

New Miss World, Megan Young from the Philippines holds hands with first runner up Marine Lorphelin of France and second runner up Carranzar Naa Okailey of Ghana

Megan Young took the top honour at the competition held in Bali, Indonesia. Miss France, Marine Lorphelin, finished second while Miss Ghana, Carranzar Naa Okailey Shooter, was third.


As reported by CNN, Miss Young said: "No words! Thank you so much for everyone for choosing me. I promise to be the best Miss World ever."

A total of 127 countries entered a contestant for the competition. Earlier this week, Kirsty Heslewood, 24, from Little Hallingbury, Essex, made history by becoming the first Miss England to reach the final 10 in the competition's history.

The women had to compete in a number of different categories including beach fashion, fitness and talent.

Despite competing as Miss Philippines, college student Miss Young was born in the U.S and at the age of 10 moved to the Philippines.

Young, who has worked as an actress and presenter since the age of 15, is keen to become a director.
