Niger State Government Awards Contract Worth N1.9Billion for Minna City Tower

Niger State Government has awarded contract for the construction of Minna City Tower to Nael and Bin Hydro Export Nigeria Limited at the cost of over N1.9Billion.


Signing the contract agreement in Minna, the Commissioner of Works and infrastructural Development, Alhaji Mu’azu Mohammed Bawa said the contract had gone through a thorough Procurement process before its award to the company.

Alhaji Mu’azu Mohammed Bawa explained that the Ministry of Works had a mechanism for supervision which would make weekly report on the best work at the site.

He stated that the ministry believes that success of the contract depends on the supervision in other to brief the Executive Council on the progress of work.

Also speaking, the Chairman Technical Committee on Minna City Center and Commissioner of Agriculture, Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Matane said the Minna City Tower was to make Minna the center of economic and cultural activities.

Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Matane disclosed that government was deliberate about regenerating economic activities within Minna and of the making the state capital center of attraction.

He announced that Governor Aliyu was the Chairman Implementation Committee and Chief Supervisor of the project.

The Commissioner, therefore, expressed the hope that the company would not disappoint the state government.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Architect Adamu Jagaba announced that the Tower was 71 meters high and would be of 21storey.

He explained that the building on the first two floors was going to be commoner’s facilities and Tower shaft which would be allocated to the 25 Local Government Areas of the state to display their cultural activities.

On the last floor, he said, was going to be a restaurant, observatory panoramic view with an aero-park on the roof.

Architect Adamu Jagaba warned the company that the state government does not take contract lightly and urged the company to abide by the time frame of 18 months for the completion of the work.

In his remarks, the General Manager of the Company, Mr. Isang Ataya thanked the state government for giving the company the opportunity to execute such an important project and solicited the support and cooperation of the staff of the ministry of works so as to enable the company complete the project on schedule.

The sum of N481Million have been given to the company as mobilization fee.
