Mercedes Unveils New Benz SLS AMG Black Series in London [Photos]

Mercedes-Benz unveiled its Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series for the first time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this past weekend in the UK.

The vehicle took to the 1.16mile notorious Goodwood Hill at the 20th annual showcase alongside the Mercedes A 45 AMG. The latter produces 360hp making it the most power hot hatch of its kind, but the new SLS AMG can produce a staggering 631hp.

It wasn’t just around the Hill that Mercedes made its presence felt, however. It also showcased a number of vehicles from days gone-by, such as the 1910 Benz 21/80 Prinz Henrich and the W154 Silver Arrow.

Visitors were also given the chance to visit the Mercedes-Benz stand which boasted every new AMG product currently available, including the SLS AMG Electric Drive. It also displayed the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class, some three months before it is due to arrive at UK showrooms.

The company is continuing to grow on the back of its most successful six-month period ever. From January-June it registered 53,686 new models in the UK: a new record.

Meanwhile, AMG enjoyed 119 per cent growth during 2012 and remains the fastest growing performance brand in the UK.
