Thabo Mbeki, Abdulsalami Abubakar Meets with Buhari in Kaduna
Former President of South Africa Thabo Mbeki on Monday met with Presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari for more than an hour in Kaduna.
Mbeki, accompanied by former Nigeria's Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, met with Buhari behind closed doors at his residence.
Although none of the three men spoke to newsmen after the meeting, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) learnt that the meeting was part of efforts to promote peace ahead of the upcoming general elections.
Both Buhari and President Goodluck Jonathan had signed a peace accord in January to demonstrate their commitment to free, fair, credible and violence-free general elections.
Mbeki and Abubakar also met with President Jonathan in Abuja on Sunday.
