INEC Insists on the Use of Card Readers
Abuja - The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has insisted that it would use card readers for the March 28 and April 11 elections despite opposition to the use of the device, reports The Nation.
The commission resolve to use the device follows Saturday’s successful test –run of the machine in twelves states.
During Saturday’s mock election, only one case of a weak card reader was recorded at INEC’s Situation Room.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega is expected to meet with the commission’s National Commissioners and all the 37 Resident Electoral Commissioners Resident Electoral Commissioners on Wednesday in Abuja to discuss the mock election.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and fourteen other parties are against the use of the machine, saying it is new and untested.
