Nigeria Move up to 34th Position in New FIFA Ranking

Previously ranked 44th Nigeria's Super Eagles moved up ten places to now rank 34th in the world in the latest FIFA ranking released on Thursday.

The Super Eagles after reaching the second round of the 2014 World Cup tournament in Brazil are now ranked the third best team in Africa after polling a total of 664 points,with Ghana now ranked 5th in Africa and 38th in the world.

Germany by virtue winning the World Cup tournament in Brazil are now ranked the best team in the world. It is the first time in almost twenty years that Germany will be topping the rankings.

They will be taking over from Spain who slumped down seven places and are now in eight position.

The top three teams in the world are exactly how the countries finished at the just concluded World Cup tournament in Brazil.

Germany with 1724 points top the rankings followed by Argentina in second with 1606 points and Netherlands in third position with 1496 points.

Costa Rica who had a memorable World Cup,moved up to its highest-ever spot of 16th position.

The highest ranked African team on the table is Algeria,occupying the 24th position closely followed by Côte d'Ivoire in the 25th.
