Officials of the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) were sacked by a High Court ruling in Jos ,which forced FIFA to place Nigeria on an indefinite suspension. But the case was withdrawn from court, and FIFA on Friday moved to lift the suspension imposed on Nigeria.

"FIFA has today, 18 July 2014, lifted the suspension that was imposed on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on 9 July 2014 on account of interference" FIFA said in a statement on its website.

"FIFA has noted that the court proceedings and order preventing the president of the NFF, the NFF Executive Committee members and the NFF Congress from running the affairs of Nigerian football that prompted the suspension have been withdrawn."

"As statutory order has been reinstated at the NFF and the legitimate bodies reinstalled, FIFA has decided to lift the suspension as of today, Friday 18 July 2014."

Earlier today, the executives of the NFF including embattled chairman Aminu Maigari, whose removal led to the FIFA ban, were locked in a crucial meeting at their Secretariat in Abuja.

There was also an unusually large presence of security officials from the police and the Department of State Security, DSS, at the venue.
