Obiano Sworn-in as Anambra Governor, Promises Oil and Gas Development in the State

Willie Obiano was on Monday sworn in as the new governor of Anambra state in an inauguration ceremony which was held at Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka and was witnessed by a large crowd of Anambra people.


Addressing Anambra people for the first time as governor, Obiano thanked the people of Anambra State for voting him and his deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke in to serve them and promised that they would not disappoint.

The governor said that the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) led government would provide an enabling environment for oil and gas development in the state. According to him, the new administration will establish a refinery in the state within one year in office.

According to Nigerian Bulletin he commended the efforts of his predecessor, Mr Peter Obi, which he said helped to move the state forward in all sectors of the economy. Obiano also appealed to the people of the state both at home and abroad for cooperation to enable the new administration to succeed.
