Simply Exquisite: The Glamorous Wedding Ceremonies of Hussaina and Sulieman

Muslim marriages unlike in the past is now tending towards being more of a social event and was the case in the glamorous union of Hussaina & Sulieman.

The Niger Times is privileged to bring you arguable one of the best weddings of the year thus far, which spans across 4 events, the pre-wedding dinner, the Nikkah, the unveiling of the bride and the Walimah (the main wedding dinner).

It was truly a cultural and religious journey as we bring you photos in a chronological order and elaborate on the culture and story behind each of the ceremonies.

The wedding ceremonies of Sulieman and Hussaina the children of retired Maj.Gen Abdulmalik Halidu-Giwa (Taimakun Nupe) and Amb. Saidu Mohammad (Danburam Tangole) respectively, kicked off on Thursday the 23rd of January with a pre-wedding dinner at Ivy Marque Ray royal Garden which brought together very close family and friends in an engaging yet extremely beautiful atmosphere that kept all guests in an ecstatic mood throughout the evening! After the the prep-wedding dinner then came the most significant event of a Muslim marriage, the Nikkah which commenced at about 11a.m on Saturday the 25th of January in Abuja National Mosque.

Family and friends of the Hussaina & Sulieman with invited guests gathered at the location to witness the wedding vows which unlike other weddings was done the Islamic way by representatives of the groom and the bride preceded over by Ustaz Musa Mohammed, the chief Imam of the mosque. Prayers were offered to the newly wedded couple and celebrations continued. Scroll down for photos:

Immediately after the Nikkah was the “Unveiling of the bride” which took place at the groom's resident, organized by the groom’s family in order to honour and welcome the bride to her new family. During this occasion the bride was presented with gifts. Scroll down for photos:

Then finally, the newly weds hosted their family and friends later in the evening, at the International conference Centre(ICC) to a marriage banquet also referred to as Walimah, which saw the likes of Nigerian top notch comedian 'I go Die' entertain guest. Scroll down for photos:

It was a day filled with love, passion, excitement and endless thrills which will no doubt last a lifetime with guests.
