Policeman Recorded Collecting Bribe Arrested
Police authorities in Lagos have confirmed the arrest of the policeman caught in a hidden camera demanding dollar bribe from an American national he stopped at the Monument bank area, in Egbeda, last week for wearing a navy-like cargo pant.
In a statement, Frank Mba, spokesperson for Nigeria Police said the police officer is F/No. 374171 Cpl Aniyem Chiyem attached to Isheri Division, Lagos State Police Command.
According to PM. News Mba said the arrest of the police officer was sequel to a marching order issued by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP MD Abubakar, to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Umar Abubakar Manko to ensure prompt arrest and investigation of the matter.
Following his arrest, the suspect who is now in police custody, is undergoing Orderly Room trials and if found guilty will face appropriate disciplinary actions.
