Gunmen Invade Bank in Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna

Unknown gunmen have invaded a commercial bank located inside the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) and Ribadu Military Cantonment in Kaduna metropolis Leadership has reported.

According to Leadership's report, it isn't known how the gunmen were able to gain entry into the bank inside the highly secured military barracks and despite the tight security around the barracks, the gunmen went away with large sums of money close to ₦52million and a Close-Circuit Television (CCTV) without being caught.

A sources said the affected bank serves both NDA staffers and personnel of Ribadu Military Cantonment, Kawo in Kaduna metropolis.

When Leadership contacted the assistant director, Army Public Relations, 1 Mechanised Division, Kaduna, Col Sani K Usman on telephone, he confirmed the incident but said he could not comment further as the matter was now before the police for further investigation.

“I can confirm to you but you know our barracks are safe. There is no insecurity in our barracks. What I can tell you is there is conspiracy among the staff of the bank because no gunshot was heard. The matter is under police investigation. I can’t comment further,” said the Army spokesman.
