3 killed, 16 Injured in New Year's Eve Attack on Church
Three person were killed and 16 others wounded when gunmen invaded a church in Maiakworigold Maikatako village in Nigeria's central Plateau state on New Year's eve, the local Punch newspaper reported Thursday.
According to the paper, the gunmen, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, stormed the church during the watch-night service to usher in the new year, and started shooting sporadically, forcing people to flee in different directions.
While two of those killed were shot dead in the church, the third one was killed near the church by the retreating gunmen.
The gunmen, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, were said to have stormed the Church of Christ in Nations COCIN Church Maiakworigold Maikatako and started shooting sporadically.
