Niger State Commissioner for Sports Advise Sport Associations to Organize Age-Group Competitions

Niger State Commissioner for Sports Development, Mr. Daniel Clifford Shashere has advised Sports Associations in the state to organize age-group competitions in other to discover more talents.

Speaking to Newsmen in Minna, the Commissioner said it was when such competitions were organized frequently at the grassroots level that more hidden talents would be discovered.

He stated that the essence of the inter-local government club volleyball competition was to select talents would represent the state in future championships.

The Commissioner commended the state volleyball association for organizing the championship and urged other associations to emulate them.

In his remarks, the Chief Coach of the State Volleyball Association, Mr. Japheth Nuhu said the competition was organized to select players for the National U-17 Festival later in the year and to also groom them for the Open National Sports Festival next year.

He said the association would live up to the expectation in ensuring the success of the championship and called on philanthropists for support.
