Beneficiaries of Federal Government SURE-P in Niger State to Get Outstanding Allowances Soon

Beneficiaries of Federal Government’s Subsidy and Re-investment Program (SURE-P) in Niger State have been asked to be patient as efforts were being made to pay their outstanding allowances.

A statement issued by the Chairman of the Federal SURE-P Committee in the state, Alhaji Aliyu Mamman said the non-payment of the allowances for the months of March, April and May was due to the delay in the implementation of the budget for the year 2013.

The statement added that arrangement was being made to address the situation to ensure that the program achieve its objectives of alleviating poverty among the youths.

Alhaji Aliyu Mamman explained that the SURE-P was a program designed by the Federal Government to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.

It would be recalled that, only three days ago, the State House of Assembly summoned the state Director General of SURE-P, Alhaji Hassan Nuhu to explain activities of the agency and why the youths that were engaged for the program were yet to be paid.

Alhaji Hassan Nuhu clarified that the complaining youths were those engaged by the Federal SURE-P adding that the State SURE-P would soon begin the recruitment of its own youths that would work for the state program.
