Abia APC Deputy Governorship Candidate Defects to PDP
The Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress in Abia state, Fred Eke Idika, has defected to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.
Mr. Idika announced his defection at the ongoing PDP Women Presidential Rally in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
He said he was abandoning the APC ticket and crossing to the PDP with over 20,000 of his loyal supporters within and outside Abia.
Mr. Idika said the PDP governments in Nigeria had performed well and that the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan deserves continuity.
He thereafter pledged his support for the PDP governorship flag-bearer, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu and other PDP candidates in Abia.
He said Mr. Ikpeazu remained the right man to drive the vehicle of development of the state after May 29, when the tenure of incumbent Governor Theodore Orji expires.
