BIZARRE Footage Shows Alleged Nigerian Soldiers Slaughtering Boko Haram Members [Video]

Footage obtained by human rights group Amnesty International and released on Tuesday appears to show Nigerian soldiers slitting the throats of Boko Haram suspects and dumping their bodies in a mass grave.

Amnesty said the extrajudicial killings occurred shortly after Boko Haram's attack on a detention centre in Giwa Barracks, in the northeastern city of Maiduguri, on March 14.

In the bizarre video you are about to see, at least 20 Boko Haram members are seen lined up and called one after the other to be slaughtered. *WARNING: Graphic Content*

According to Reuters, Nigerian Defence spokesman Major-General Chris Olukolade, said in a statement that "the military authorities view these grave allegations very seriously.

"Much as the scenes depicted in this video are alien to our operations and doctrines, it has to be investigated to ensure that such practices have not crept, surreptitiously, into the system," Olukolade said.

He emphasised that such behaviour would be counter to the training Nigerian troops are given.

"That level of barbarism and impunity has no place in the Nigerian military. Respect for the sanctity of life is always boldly emphasized in our doctrinal training," he said.

Though it hasn't been possible to independently verify the video, Nigeria authorities say they will investigate the video and punish any wrongdoers.

The footage comes few weeks after a disturbing video showing Boko Haram members decapitating a Nigerian Air Force soldier surfaced.

  1. I watched the same clip four months ago in the same place of shooting but they were not in uniform. the clip was on FB, but now cannot see it. this seems to be a new clip with the ppl slaughtering others to be in uniform. How sure is +Amnesty International sure that this is the military and not vice versa? or how can one be sure that it is either group? can there be a level of doubt in this? what of the likelihood of boko haram putting on Nigerian military fatigue and doing the slaughter? who even shot the video?

I don't doubt for a second that Nigeria's military are committing war crimes and crimes against humanity. Years ago I worked helping refugee to resettle in the US, I heard first hand accounts from refugees from Sierra Leone of Nigerian soldiers abuses. Later, documentaries were published of Nigerian soldiers beating and killing of Sierra Lionesses civilians, proving those allegations. It not new news, it is something prevalent and common in many parts of Africa

This video is very hard to analyse, just to prove who is who, if the men in uniform were Boko Haram, they would not waste their time digging graves and using knifes when they have guns with them as seen in the video and the people slaughtered were too calm to be ready for death as I argue, on the other hand if the uniform men were Nigerian Army, why would they be using knifes and not guns but infer that I argue that all army in the world always have a knife but contested, or the knifes may have been collected from those slaughtered presumed to be Boko Haram, and why were the victims so calm, I strongly argued that they must have been beaten, so how can this piece be independently verified?
