2 Siblings Killed as Boat Capsizes in Niger State
One narrowly escapes death as four bodies were recovered by local divers from a boat which capsized at Tagwai Dam, in Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State.
Nigerian Tribune reports that the incident occurred on Sunday evening after two siblings, Hajiya Sani, 21 years, Habida Sani, 14 years, in the company of a close relation, Haruna Umaru, 37 years and five-year-old Fatimah Sani, allegedly asked the paddler, Usman Karma, 26 years, to take them round the area.
The mishap which one of the passengers, the paddler on board survived is still unknown.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Niger State police command, Mr Ibrahim Abiodun Gambari, who confirmed the incident, said that the bodies of deceased had since been buried in accordance with the Islamic injunction, and the survivor
He advised parents to warn their children to keep off the dam site to avert recurrence of the last Sunday’s unfortunate incident.
