World Cup Trophy Travels in Style Thanks To Louis Vuitton

The official FIFA World Cup Trophy will be travelling in style to this year’s World Cup Final at The Maracanã Stadium, as FIFA has commissioned Louis Vuitton to design the case that will house the coveted prize.

True to the Louis Vuitton brand, the trophy’s case will resemble their iconic monogrammed leather travel trunk. And travel the trophy certainly does. Since September of last year, the FIFA World Cup Trophy has covered nearly 93,000 miles during a tour of the world that began and ended in this year’s host country of Brazil.

The biggest prize in international soccer isn’t a light load, either. Made of 18-carat gold, the trophy weighs 13.6 pounds and stands 14.4 inches tall.

Brazilian fashion supermodel Giselle Bundchen is also set to escort the 2014 World Cup winners trophy, encased in the Louis Vuitton custom case, come this Sunday 13th July at the finals. This below tweet from Louis Vuitton confirmed it:

This is the second consecutive World Cup that FIFA has worked with Louis Vuitton, they also designed the trophy case for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Keep an eye out for the famed fashion house’s work when the trophy is rolled out during the final in Rio De Janeiro on July 13th.
