The decision to declare Orintunsin persona non-grata in the Government House and from government activities was conveyed to the leadership of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) by the governor’s media aides.

The Chairman of the Chapel, Wole Mosadomi, announced the ban at an emergency congress.

According to Mosadomi, Commissioner for Information Danladi Ndayebo, Aliyu’s Chief Press Secretary Israel Ebije and a Senior Special Assistant on Media Relations Dipo Laleye told the chapel executive that the governor has directed that The Nation’s correspondent be barred from entering and covering state functions in the Government House.

The chairman said Orintunsin was accused of romancing with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and that security and intelligence reports gave him out as the brain behind recent statements by the opposition.

Mosadomi said the media aides claimed that the governor took the decision before he travelled for lesser hajj, following what he perceived as ‘bad press’, being orchestrated by the opposition.

This decision was condemned by members at the congress and it directed the leadership of the chapel to demand for a reversion of the directive.

Gov. Aliyu's government is the worse ever. Very corrupt. And politics aside the APC's claims are actually spot on.
