146 Cows Recovered, as Niger State Police Command Arrest Suspected Cattle Rustlers

Niger state police command has arrested two cattle-rustlers and recovered 146 cows, including AK 47 rifle in Pandogari area of Kangara local government area of the state.

The Police commissioner, Mrs. Desire Nsirim disclosed this in Minna, while briefing the press on the activities of the Niger state Police Command and the breakthrough it recorded in the past one month.

The commissioner, who was represented by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, ASP Richard Oguche paraded the suspects, Abubakar Ibrahim and Sani Abashe at the state’s Police Headquarters.

He noted that the cows were now in the custody of the Police, in Pandogari Police Divisional Headquarters, adding that some of the cows have been released to the owners that were able to identify them.

He said that the Police acted on a tip-off, after the suspects, from Giwa Local government of Kaduna state, camped in a hideout in Sabon Gida area of Alawa village via Kagara of Niger state, adding that the gang leader of the rustlers, Nadumaru Usman was on the run; he however said that the suspects confessed that the rifle belonged to their leader.

Oguche said that the Police last month carried out 51 raids of criminal spots in the state, leading to the arrest of 126 suspects, out of which 92 got court convictions.
