Gucci & Beyonce's Chime For Change Team with Nigeria's Zuriel Oduwole

What do Beyonce, Halle Berry, Zuriel Oduwole, Salma Hayakand, Jada Pinkett-Smith all have in common? Apart from being actors, producers, artists, directors, or in the case of Zuriel – A Documentary film maker, they all Chime For Change.


In June 2013, Gucci’s Frida Giannini, Grammy winner Beyonce and Hollywood actress Salma Hayak launched a global initiative for supporting the issues of Women’s & Girls Education, Health and Justice around the world called Chime For Change. It was initiated with a large event and concert in London, featuring artists John Legend, Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce and messages from Prince Harry and many others, to raise funds to support these global initiatives.

One year later in New York, Gucci and the founders celebrate the one year anniversary of this event at the Trump Towers. One of those invited to the event is 11 year old Documentary filmmaker and Girl Education advocate; Zuriel Oduwole. Seen by the organizers as a global inspiration to women and girls around the world, she has also just been featured on the Chime For Change website, with her own story of how she got started, and the power of one voice.

Mariane Pearl, Managing Editor of the foundations platform believes Zuriel as an incredible young girl. Her story is needed to show the depth of her ability to communicate effectively the relevant issues affecting women and children around the world, especially with her focus on Education, and the effect it can have on families, lives, and communities as a whole, she says.

She describes Zuriel as a darling at Chime For Change, and looks forward to seeing her involved in making a difference to Women’s and children’s lives in Africa, and globally.
