FUT Minna Accesses N5.6b Intervention Fund

The Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna has confirmed that it accessed about N5.6 billion from the intervention fund following the implementation of the NEEDS assessment report.


The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Musibau Adewunmi Akanji who revealed while meeting with the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth and Student matters, Comrade Jude Imagwe in his office, said the feat is unprecedented in the history of the university.

Akanji commended the President for fulfilling his promises saying, "The president is a leader that has taken an unprecedented steps to rejuvenate and transform the educational sector giving it a face lift that can make Nigerian institutions compete favorable globally in terms of infrastructural development."

He applauded the President transformation agenda while laying emphasis on the recent funds released by the federal government out of which the institute has been able to access about N5.6 billion for the provision of infrastructure and welfare of staff and students of the institutions.

Imagwe in his response urged other VCs to emulate Akanji’s leadership strategy especially how he maintained close relationship with the students in the institute, which has made it peaceful.

 "The man has demonstrated that he is a father before being a VC and these are the type of leaders we want to be at the helm of affairs in the our tertiary institutions.

"With his conducts there has been less agitation from students, no threat of protest, this has safe guarded properties in the university community," he said.
