Praiz Donates N10 million To Baby Born with Hole in Heart
Nigerian R n B sensation Praise Adejo, popularly known as Praiz has donated N10 million for the treatment of a baby, Somaya Olayinka, born with a hole in the heart.
Mr. Adejo said on Tuesday in Lagos that the gesture was his “little” contribution to the society. He presented the cheque for the sum to the child’s parents in Lagos.
“I did it because I wanted to do something I had never done before. I wanted to save a life, and I am grateful to all who contributed to this,” he said.
The artiste, who was among the finalists of the first MTN Project Fame, West Africa, in 2009, raised the money from sale of his single, Oshe, as a telephone caller-tune in January and February.
The baby was born with a hole in her heart in 2013, and had an operation in which the hole was successfully closed. However, doctors said that she would need costly post-surgery treatments.
In January, Praiz launched the campaign to raise money for the baby by urging mobile phone users to make his song, Oshe, their caller-tune for N50 monthly.
He is currently signed on to X3M music, owned by Steve Babaeko.
Praiz was recently nominated for the World Best Live Act and World Best Entertainer at the World Music Awards, 2014.
