Cristiano Ronaldo Wins 2013 Fifa Ballon d’Or [Video]

Real Madrid super-star Cristiano Ronaldo was in tears as he received the FIFA Ballon d’Or award for the best player of 2013, beating Lionel Messi and Franck Ribéry.

German goalkeeper Nadine Angerer claimed her first prize in the women's category, while Jupp Heynckes, the former coach of Bayern Munich, and Germany’s women’s national team coach Silvia Neid hwon the FIFA World Coach of the Year awards for men’s and women’s football respectively. The 2013 FIFA Ballon d’Or ceremony also featured a very special tribute to Brazil’s most famous footballing legend Pele, who was warmly applauded by the audience when he received the FIFA Ballon d’Or Prix d’Honneur in recognition of his dazzling career and achievements.

This is the second time Ronaldo has been named the best player in the world, winning his first in 2008.

The award winners, were voted for by national team coaches and captains as well as by the international media representatives selected by FIFA and French football magazine France Football. The entire voting process was supervised and monitored by PricewaterhouseCoopers Switzerland (PwC).
