President Jonathan Meets Rebel Governors Aliyu & Lamido

President Goodluck Jonathan meets governors Babangida Aliyu of Niger and Sule Lamido of Jigawa formerly in the new PDP who decided to remain in the party despite the fact that five of their colleagues moved to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The meeting which is expected to take place at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, will also have in attendance the Chairman, Board of Trustees, BoT, of PDP, Chief Tony Anenih, as well as some leaders and stakeholders of the party.

After the meeting with the governors last Sunday, a follow-up was scheduled for today. As usual, one of the issues on the agenda is the fate of Tukur. Reports say that the camp of the national chairman is jittery because of the condition given by the rebel governors that the PDP National Chairman must go as the only solution to the political logjam in the ruling party.

More interesting is the fact that Aso Rock is still eager to have the five governors who recently defected back in the PDP fold, so Lamido and Aliyu would represent their former colleagues in the G7 at the meeting by proxy. Only yesterday, Gov. Babangida Aliyu visited Gov Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano after which they both declared that the G7 was still intact. Details of their conversation is still unknown.
