Niger State Tops Job Enrolment Figure of 4, 450 in SURE-P
Niger State is ahead of other states in the federation in the recruitment of 4, 450 unemployed youths currently working in about 577 communities, across the state.
Chairman of the State Coordination and Implementation Committee (SCIC) on Subsidy Reinvestment Programme (SURE P), Aliyu Mamman, revealed this yesterday.
He said between June 2012 and September 2013, the allowances of the beneficiaries of the programme has gulped over N340 million.
According to National Mirror, Mamman in said the state has topped the chart of beneficiaries across the country since the project was first launched by the Presidency in June, 2012 with 300 pilot beneficiaries. He added that before the end of that year, another 1,150 had been recruited.
“The Federal Government launched the project in Niger State on June 7, 2012 through the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala with 300 pilot beneficiaries from five local government areas that include Agaie, Bida, Wushishi, Rafi, Bosso and Chachaga.”
