Anambra State PDP Chairman 'Ken Emekayi' Kidnapped

The Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State, Mr. Ken Emekayi, has been reportedly kidnapped.

THISDAY reports Emekayi was kidnapped on Sunday at Anyafuijiji junction in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area of the state between 7p.m. and 8p.m.

A member of his family who spoke to THISDAY on the condition of anonymity yesterday, said the kidnappers had opened a channel of communication with the family but declined to disclose the exact ransom they were demanding or where he was being held.

He simply said negotiations had begun and he would not know if the abduction was politically-motivated.

This comes just after All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), candidate Willie Obaino, was declared winner of the recently held Anambra State governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Anambra chapter declared Obaino Sunday December 1st in Awka that Mr. Obiano won the election by polling 180,178 votes in 19 local government areas in the state. He beat PDP candidate Tony Nwoye, to the second position with 97,700 votes and Senator Chris Ngige of the All Progressives Congress, who came third with 95,963. Ifeanyi Ubah, of Labour Party came fourth with 37,495.
