Amazon Testing Drone Delivery System [Video]

Amazon's chief executive Jeff Bezos has revealed that the company is testing a new service involving delivery by mini-drones to get packages weighing up to 3 kilograms to customers in just 30 minutes.

Bezos told the CBS program that the unmanned vehicles would pick up items from Amazon’s “fulfillment centers” and fly them to customers’ homes in less than half an hour.

About 86% of the company’s packages weigh five pounds or less, he said.

The drones, which would be part of a program called "Amazon Prime Air," can carry the packages up to 10 miles.

Bezos said the drones are probably four or five years away. The company is working out regulations and figuring out how to keep your delivery from falling on your head.
