The Chief Servant of Niger State Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu at 58

When Dr. Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu became the governor of Niger State in May 2007, he promised in his inaugural address that he was going to be a courageous leader, more resolute than any we have seen before, and provide "courageous and quality leadership". Six years on, although some Nigerlites will argue, few would dispute the fact that the Chief Servant has kept his word.

Governor Aliyu usually does not celebrate birthdays, rather he dedicates his birthday anniversaries to the promotion of Niger State and empowering Nigerlites.

The situation was not different this year as on Tuesday 12th November 2013, the chief servant dedicated his 58th birthday anniversary to the 3rd Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu International Literary Colloquium, themed 'Creativity, Youth and National Development'.

Later in the evening just after a brief rest the Chief servant of Niger State received the victorious U-17 National Football Team, the Golden Eaglets at the same venue, for a dinner to mark his 58th birthday anniversary.

He announced the award of N20Million on behalf of Niger State Government to the Champions and stated that the reward comprised of N12Million for the players, N5Million for the officials and N3Million for the members and management of the U-17 National Football Team.

Governor Aliyu said, in addition, that the government would provide lands to them to build houses in places of their choice in the state. He, then, advised the players to invest their money wisely and further their education and not to allow the success to go into their heads.

Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu stated that his administration decided to honour the players because five of them were from Niger State and they made the state proud.
