US Embassy Personnel's Home Impacted by Deadly Blast in Ethiopia
NAIROBI, Kenya — Officials say a weekend explosion in Ethiopia's capital that killed two people impacted a home used by U.S. Embassy personnel.
Ethiopia's state TV says the identities of those killed in the Sunday blast are not known. The government also has not said what caused the blast. The area hosts a large Somali population.
According to Boston Herald an FBI document obtained by The Associated Press says the blast "impacted the wall of a U.S. employee residence."
Kenya last month saw the Somali militant group al-Shabab kill 67 people during a siege on a Nairobi shopping mall. Al-Shabab in 2010 detonated bombs in Uganda's capital during the World Cup final, killing more than 70 people.
Al-Shabab said those attacks were retaliation because Kenya and Uganda have troops in Somalia. Ethiopia also has troops in Somalia.
