3 PDP Members Indicate Interest To Contest for Niger State 2015 Governorship Position

Niger State governor, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu has revealed that three persons within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have indicated their interest to contest for the governorship position of the state in 2015 saying those trying to lure Mohammed Babangida, the son of former Military President, Ibrahim Babangida, to contest are political jobbers.

This is as the chairman of PDP in Niger State, Hon. Abdulraman Enagi has assured that the party would remain one in the state not withstanding the current crisis at the national level.

The governor and the chairman spoke yesterday in Minna when Wushishi local government PDP led by its chairman, Usman Salihu Kwata paid a solidarity visit to the executives of the party in the state and the governor.

Aliyu stated that the deputy governor, Alhaji Ahmed Musa Ibeto,  the commissioner for works, Alhaji Muazu Bawa and the chairman of Wushishi local government area, Alhaji Saidu Abuabakar Wushishi, have all declared interest in the race.

Aliyu who chided one of his critics from Wushishi and the chief campaigner of Mohammed Babangida for governor, Nura Imam, stated that Mohammed is from Niger East whereas the governorship position has been zoned to Niger North ahead of 2015 elections. He said that Nura Imam campaigning for Mohammed Babangida was inconsequential.

“Three people told me they want to contest for the governorship seat in 2015, I told them that if they lose they should not embark on unorthodox means against any one that wins”, he said.
