Nigeria To Experience A Lunar Eclipse On October 19 & Solar Eclipse On November 3rd
According to International time u.t.c a lunar eclipse and a solar eclipse will occur on Saturday October 19 and Sunday November 3, 2013 respectively which will be visible in some parts of the World.
It will be visible in some cities in Nigeria like Abuja, Ilorin, Kaduna, Lagos and some other cities mostly in the north central and west of the country
Solar Eclipse: As seen from the Earth, a solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, and the Moon fully or partially blocks ("occults") the Sun. This can happen only at new moon, when the Sun and the Moon are in conjunction as seen from Earth in an alignment referred to as syzygy.
Lunar Eclipse: A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly behind the Earth into its umbra (shadow). This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned (in "syzygy") exactly, or very closely so, with the Earth in the middle. Hence, a lunar eclipse can only occur the night of a full moon.
