Super Eagles beat Bafana Bafana 2-0 to win 2013 Nelson Mandela Challenge
Nigeria Super Eagles lifted a second trophy on South African soil after they defeated hosts Bafana Bafana 2-0 in the 2013 Nelson Mandela Challenge on Wednesday night.
The first trophy was won in February when they grabbed the African Nations Cup under the same coach, Stephen Keshi.
The first half of the match played in Durban ended goalless but Uche Nwafor came on in the second half to score both goals.
The first of the two was a classic as the Holland-based player scored off a cheeky back heel. John Ogu had the first shot of the game on four minutes, from outside the box, but it was high and wide.
And then many other chances were missed afterwards by both sides until the 48th minute after a cutback from Nnamdi Oduamadi, following a great play by Victor Moses holding off Phala and skipping past a couple of Bafana tackles.
Nwafor made it 2-0 in the 68th minute. The Eagles then held on to win the trophy
