Federal Government Declares Thursday and Friday Sallah Public Holidays
The federal government has declared Thursday and Friday as public holidays to mark 2013 Eid-el-Fitri Sallah celebration.
This was contained in a statement issued yesterday by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Mrs. Fatima B. A. Bamidele.
Bamidele said the Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, who made the declaration on behalf of the federal government, enjoined all Muslims and other Nigerians of other faiths to extend the spiritual benefits of Ramadan.
She quoted him as listing the benefits to include love, joy and peace.
According to her, he said this would contribute to the development of the country.
Moro, according to her, wished “all Nigerians a most rewarding and peace celebration,” enjoining “them to seize the opportunity of the holiday to reflect on the imperative of peace in nation building.”
